We’ve had the beautiful Stella for around three weeks now . She just wanted to be loved from day 1 and happily curled up on our laps straight away.
She absolutely loves humans of all sizes. Head and belly rubs are her fav, she’s also a huge fan of giving kisses (licks). She is very calm so would be fine with to live with small children.
She lives along side our resident dog but doesn’t seem bothered whether he is there or not. She has shown never shown any reactivity over anything. I think she would be fine as an only dog as long as her humans are around a lot for reassurance or equally happy with another dog for company, she isn’t bothered for playing with the resident dog.
She likes to chew so will need lots of chewy toys. She hasn’t ever chewed any furniture or anything like that but will chew on wires if left around so need to be careful of that.
We saw the vet around a week ago that gave her the all clear except for needing to put some more weight on. She ate very tiny amounts when she first arrived but now demolishes every meal so it won’t be long before this happens. She could probably do with being able to graze in between too but that’s not possible with our greedy resident dog!
On a night time she sleeps in her crate, occasionally she will bark for 5/10 mins but then sleeps all night and 99% of the time is clean on a morning. I think she would love nothing more than sleeping with another dog, her human or on the sofa. However on a morning, no one will be happier to see you. I have never seen a dog so excited, it’s literally like she remembers she has been rescued all over again every single morning.
Toilet training is going very well, we’re still working on her telling us she needs to go outside but as long as she’s taken out regularly all toileting is in the garden. She will look for the treat jar now when she’s been! She doesn’t toilet on walks at all yet, she waits until she’s home and goes in the garden!
She can be left for 3-4 hours. She settles quickly if left alone and can sleep on the sofa. She takes a little longer if she is crated. This could well be because she can see the resident dog on the sofa.
We’ve not met any cats but she’s so calm around everything else I can’t see it being a problem.
